DIY: Revamp an old pair of leggings

Leggings are my savior, especially in these winter months. They are comfy, cute, and go with anything. Pair with a tunic or sweater and you’re set for the day; it’s no wonder why I have an outrageous amount of them stuffed in my drawers.
Patterned leggings have been a huge hit in the last few years, and it doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere anytime soon. Simple or daring, there are a numerous amount of styles and patterns I’ve seen; but who knew it was so simple to make your own?

I thought it would be fun to experiment with a bleach pen and spice up an old pair. This project isn’t limited to leggings and you can really use it for any dark pieces of clothing. Have fun designers!
Materials needed:
Dark-colored leggings (Or really any other article of clothing!)
Bleach pen
Bonus: Cardboard to put underneath the leggings so the bleach doesn’t bleed through.
Step one:
Place the cardboard inside of the leggings, and make sure the leggings are straight! Next smooth the surface clean of wrinkles.
Step two:
Find a design you like for inspiration, find a stencil, or just start using the bleach pen to free draw on the leggings!
Tip: The bleach may spread, so be aware and try not to make the lines too thick!
Step three:
Let the bleach sit. The longer you let it sit the whiter the design will be so keep this in mind.
Step four:
When you are ready take the leggings to the sink and rinse the bleach gel off in cold water. Make sure you wash it a few times to make sure all of the bleach is off.
Step five:
Throw the leggings into the washer and dryer. You will not need soap for this step, just make sure the washer is on cold.
Step six:
Enjoy your new and improved leggings designed by you!
